LinkedIn Image Sizes 2026: Banner, Cover Photo, Post, Carousel and Ad Specs

Every LinkedIn image size in one dated table: the personal banner, company cover, profile photo, logo, post images, carousels, video, article and newsletter covers, event banners and ad specs, each read from LinkedIn's own help pages.

The LinkedIn banner size is 1584 x 396 pixels for a personal profile, a 4:1 ratio, in JPG or PNG under 8 MB, according to LinkedIn’s help center. A company Page cover is 1512 x 256 pixels in LinkedIn’s Pages image specifications. Every size below was read on LinkedIn’s own help center or LinkedIn Marketing Solutions pages and checked on 3 November 2026.

Most of the guides that rank for this search are run by LinkedIn tool vendors. Several still list 1128 x 191 for the company cover, and few link each number to the LinkedIn page it came from. This page does: each row names the LinkedIn page it came from, so you can check it again before a launch. Where LinkedIn does not publish a size, we say so instead of guessing.

What is the LinkedIn banner size?

The background photo on your profile (LinkedIn’s help now calls it the cover image) should be:

SpecValueSource
Recommended size1584 x 396 pixels (4:1)LinkedIn Help: cover image on your profile
File typeJPG or PNGSame page
File sizeUnder 8 MBSame page
GIFsNot supported on profile or background photosLinkedIn Help: media file types

The banner is cropped differently on desktop and in the mobile app, and your profile photo sits over part of it. LinkedIn does not publish a safe zone in pixels, so keep text and logos away from the edges and the lower left, then check the result on both a laptop and a phone before you leave it.

One conflict to know about: LinkedIn’s event help asks for a 16:9 cover on the Event page, while its event ads spec says the ad shows a 4:1 image pulled from that same page. Keep the important part of the event cover in a wide band through the middle and check the ad preview in Campaign Manager before you launch.

Because guides copy each other and the figure on LinkedIn’s help page is not the one they repeat. Two of the top results for “linkedin banner size”, Hyperclapper and Social Previewing, list 1128 x 191 for the company cover. LinkedIn’s Pages image specifications list 1512 x 256 pixels today, with the Page logo at 400 x 400. Other guides quote other sizes again. We use LinkedIn’s figure.

If you already have a 1128 x 191 cover, it is the same shape (both are about 5.9:1), so it will not be cropped differently. It is smaller than LinkedIn’s minimum, though, so export a new version at 1512 x 256 when you next update it.

There are two different things called a LinkedIn carousel:

  • Organic carousel (document post). You upload a PDF or slide file and LinkedIn shows it page by page. LinkedIn sets file limits of 100 MB, 300 pages and one million words but no page size. We design slides at 1080 x 1080 (square) or 1080 x 1350 (4:5), the same shapes LinkedIn allows for photos, and keep every slide the same size. That is our working choice, not a LinkedIn rule.
  • Carousel ad. A paid format of 2 to 10 image cards that people swipe. LinkedIn recommends 1080 x 1080 pixels per card, up to 10 MB each, and does not support video cards.

What is the best image size for a LinkedIn post?

LinkedIn’s photo help page recommends a width of 1080 pixels and allows ratios from 3:1 (wide) to 4:5 (tall), with a minimum of 552 x 276. So:

ShapeSize to exportWhen to use it
Vertical 4:51080 x 1350Takes the most room in a phone feed; quotes, charts, one-slide summaries
Square 1:11080 x 1080Safe default; works for multi-image posts and matches carousel slides
Landscape 1.91:11200 x 627Link previews and images you reuse from your blog or ads
Wide 16:91920 x 1080Screenshots, webinar slides, article covers you also post

Multi-image posts render at a maximum ratio of 4:5, according to the same page, so do not go taller than 1080 x 1350.

Is PNG or JPG better for LinkedIn?

Both are accepted. For Page images, LinkedIn’s help suggests a high-resolution JPEG instead of a PNG for the best resolution. Our rule of thumb: JPEG for photos, PNG for screenshots, charts and graphics with small text, as long as the file stays under 5 MB for posts and 3 MB for Page images. GIFs work in posts and single image ads but not on profile or background photos.

What should a B2B banner and cover say?

The size is the easy part. The banner sits behind the first thing a buyer sees when a post sends them to your profile, so use it the way you would use a website header:

  1. One line on what you do and for whom. “Payroll software for 50 to 500-person firms” beats a city skyline.
  2. Proof if you have it. A customer logo strip or one number you can back up, such as an award or a review score with its source.
  3. A next step. The newsletter name, a podcast or the event you are hosting next.
  4. Match the founder banners to the company cover. Same colors and type, so a buyer who clicks from a founder’s post to the Page sees one company.

Illustrative. Brightquay, a fictional payroll software company, gives its CEO, CFO and company Page the same banner template: the product line on the left, the newsletter name on the right and nothing in the lower left where the photo sits. The CFO’s version swaps the newsletter for her monthly month-end close checklist.

Our brand service includes templates for your deck and social posts, and our LinkedIn ghostwriting service rewrites company Page and profile copy for the people who post, then writes three posts a week for each of them.

How do image specs affect LinkedIn ad results?

Using the recommended sizes keeps LinkedIn from cropping or shrinking your creative, which is the minimum. The bigger cost levers are format, objective and audience. Our guide to LinkedIn ads cost compares cost per lead by format, including document, single image and video ads. If a founder’s organic post or PDF carousel is doing well, you can sponsor it as a Thought Leader Ad; it runs with the image or document the author posted, so get the size right before it goes live.

The text around the image matters as much as the picture. LinkedIn advises keeping ad intro text to 150 characters to avoid truncation, and posts are capped at 3,000 characters. Our free LinkedIn text formatter counts characters, previews the “see more” cut and adds bold or lists without breaking the post.

Frequently asked

What is the LinkedIn banner size?

LinkedIn recommends 1584 x 396 pixels for the background (cover) image on a personal profile, which is a 4:1 ratio. The file must be a JPG or PNG under 8 MB, according to LinkedIn's help center, checked on 3 November 2026.

What size is the LinkedIn company page cover image?

LinkedIn's Pages help lists 1512 x 256 pixels as both the minimum and the recommended cover size, in PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB. Many guides still quote 1128 x 191, which does not match LinkedIn's current help page. The Page logo should be 400 x 400 pixels (minimum 268 x 268).

What is the best image size for a LinkedIn post?

LinkedIn recommends a width of 1080 pixels, with an aspect ratio anywhere from 3:1 to 4:5 and a minimum of 552 x 276 pixels. In practice that means 1080 x 1080 for a square image or 1080 x 1350 for a vertical one. Uploads are limited to 5 MB and you can add up to 20 images to one post.

What size should a LinkedIn carousel be?

An organic carousel is a document post, usually a PDF. LinkedIn sets the file limits (100 MB, 300 pages, one million words) but not a page size. Use one page size for every slide, such as 1080 x 1080 or 1080 x 1350, to match LinkedIn's square and 4:5 photo ratios. Carousel ads are different: LinkedIn recommends 1080 x 1080 pixels per card, 2 to 10 cards.

Is PNG or JPG better for LinkedIn posts?

LinkedIn accepts both. For Page images, LinkedIn's help suggests a high-resolution JPEG instead of a PNG for the best resolution. Use PNG for screenshots or graphics with sharp text if the JPEG shows blurry edges, and keep the file under the 5 MB post limit.

Is 1920 x 1080 good for LinkedIn?

Yes for article and newsletter covers, where LinkedIn recommends exactly 1920 x 1080 pixels. A 1920 x 1080 image also fits in a feed post (16:9 sits inside LinkedIn's 3:1 to 4:5 range) and is the maximum size for a landscape video ad. It is the wrong shape for the profile banner, which is 4:1.
