Fractional marketing is marketing bought by the part of the week: a part-time leader such as a fractional CMO, or a shared team of part-time specialists. Go Fractional puts a fractional CMO’s retainer at $4,000 to $20,000 a month. Growigami’s version adds the work: AI agents run each process, from $1,999 a month.
Your fractional CMO builds your first process with you, and from then on AI agents do the weekly work in outbound, search or social. You approve what goes out under your name.
Fractional marketing is senior marketing skill hired for part of the week on a contract, without a full-time salary. It comes in two forms. One is a part-time leader, a fractional CMO, VP or head of marketing who owns the plan. The other is a shared team: Prose Media defines a fractional marketing team as “a part-time bench of marketers assembled around a specific business need.”
Go Fractional says fractional marketers commit to regular hours, typically up to 20 a week for each company they serve, and often hold leadership roles. Lightcast counted at least 34,000 US workers in 2025, in every function, whose current title mentions fractional, up 265% from 2019.
The pages on this search draw the lines this way:

Go Fractional, MarketerHire and Prose Media publish price ranges on their own sites, and each one prices a different thing: a part-time leader, one specialist or a shared team.

The leader and specialist prices buy hours, and the extras add up. Prose Media says its ranges usually leave out ad spend, software, major web development and heavy video production. MarketerHire puts the tools a fractional marketer needs at $300 to $1,500 a month. It estimates a $6,000 fractional marketer costs closer to $7,500 to $8,000 a month once tools, ramp time and support are counted.
At Growigami the process price covers the weekly work, and ad spend is paid at cost. A process costs $500 more in its first month while we build it, and your first build is on us this month. For fractional CMO rates alone, broken down by hours and company size, read our fractional CMO cost guide.
Each week, AI agents do the work of the process you picked. They research the accounts you want and write to each contact, or they draft search pages from what your team knows and your posts from short calls and voice notes. Your fractional CMO built the process with you and ran it by hand until it worked. You answer the interested replies and take the sales calls.
Pick one process to start, each from $1,999 a month:
The website is a one-time build from $7,499, and positioning is a one-time build at $4,999 if the message needs work first.
In the optional standing review, your fractional CMO goes through the whole system with you and tunes it on the numbers in your CRM. Monthly sessions cost $1,499 a month and weekly ones $2,999. On the monthly plan you can ask them anything in Slack between sessions. Without a review, your team steers and we keep each process running.
MarketerHire’s guide names three traits that are difficult to judge before you work with someone: independence, reliability and dedication. A fractional marketer who needs constant oversight, it says, wastes too much of your time. Ask every candidate these four questions:

CapOut sells software to roofing and restoration contractors, and its CEO, Matt Fruge, had been through two and a half in-house marketers. A single team then ran CapOut’s search pages and outbound and built a product-led website. Estimated search visits grew 10x once the new pages were live, and Matt’s investor update put revenue up nearly 5x (CapOut story).
“It’s kind of hard to tell that you guys are fractional because you’re so accessible on Slack and responsive, but because you guys are a team, there’s always someone to respond and answer my question.” Matt Fruge, CEO, CapOut
NaviNurses, where families hire a registered nurse for care at home, had a new sales team and no defined buyer. Strategy sessions settled who the ideal client was before any campaign ran. Webinars, content and outbound then aimed at that client together, and the sales team hit full quota in 60 days (NaviNurses story).
Both are past results from two companies, and neither is a forecast for yours.

Questions
It depends on the model. Go Fractional puts a fractional CMO at $4,000 to $20,000 a month. MarketerHire puts fractional marketing managers at $3,000 to $15,000 a month, and Prose Media's example budget for a lean team is $8,000 to $15,000. At Growigami one process is $1,999 a month and costs $500 more in its first month while we build it, and your first build is on us this month.
A senior marketer, such as a CMO, a VP or a head of marketing, who leads your marketing for part of the week on a contract. Go Fractional says fractional marketers typically give each employer up to 20 hours a week. The leader owns the plan and the budget, and the work is done by your team, by specialists or, at Growigami, by AI agents.
Go Fractional describes a fractional marketing director as a part-time marketer who executes the strategy a CMO develops while managing the marketing department. That is one firm's definition, so ask any candidate what the role covers. MarketerHire does not price directors by name. Its nearest band, senior strategists managing several channels or leading a team, runs $10,000 to $15,000 a month.
When marketing needs senior judgment and nobody on staff has it, and the company is not ready for a full-time salary. The BLS median for a marketing manager was $166,790 a year in May 2025. Hire full-time instead when there is 40 hours a week of marketing to lead, every week.
That depends on whether you want a person or the work. Go Fractional and MarketerHire match companies with individual fractional marketers, and MarketerHire agrees a budget with you on a call before it makes a match. Growigami sells the work by process: a fractional CMO builds it, AI agents run it and the price is posted, from $1,999 a month.
It is a different purchase. Averi puts the line this way: agencies work as a firm with their own processes, and fractional marketers embed in your team and use your systems. Growigami sits between the two. Your fractional CMO builds each process on your CRM and your stack, and AI agents then do the weekly production.
The minimum is three months, and after that you can leave with 30 days' notice. Each process is priced on its own, so you can stop one and keep another. The optional review with your fractional CMO is $1,499 a month for monthly sessions or $2,999 for weekly ones.
Yes. Posts in your name wait for your approval. Outreach waits for the person who sends it, and every ad and search page waits for your yes. Replies and form fills land in your CRM, so you can see what each piece produced.
