What an auditor asks for after a temperature excursion

The reading is the easy part. The auditor wants to see what your team did in the minutes after it.

Under the FDA Food Code, cold-held food stays at 41°F or below.1

Across 140 warehouses on Dockmere, the median excursion at a dock door was closed in 18 minutes in September.2

Fennick probes report every 60 seconds, so the timeline has no gaps.4

What a digital marketing agency in Washington DC adds

Thrive and DuPont sell paid ads, social and web design next to SEO. Growigami prices those separately: a Paid process for ads, a LinkedIn process for your leaders and an Events process for trade shows, each from $1,999 a month.

Does a DC SEO company need an office in the District?

It needs one if your team wants to meet across a table. DuPont Creative is headquartered at 1701 K Street NW, and WebFX’s DC page puts its office across from Franklin Park. Silverback says its headquarters is in Northern Virginia and that it can meet local clients in person or work remotely.

Clutch’s DC page shows how spread out the field is. Of its 64 firms, 22 give a Washington, DC location and 15 show the label “Serves Washington, DC” in place of a town. The other 27 give a town in Virginia (20, led by Alexandria and Arlington) or Maryland (7).

For a contractor, what a page has to say is technical: capabilities, contract types, certifications, the agencies and primes you work with. That comes from your own engineers and capture staff, and your CRO collects it in short interviews. Our generative engine optimization page covers how those pages are written to be cited by AI assistants.

Washington-Arlington-Alexandria in the 2023 Census count

The metro crosses four jurisdictions, and in County Business Patterns it covers 23 counties and independent cities. They are the District of Columbia; Charles, Frederick, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland; Arlington, Clarke, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Rappahannock, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Warren counties in Virginia; the Virginia cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Manassas and Manassas Park; and Jefferson County, West Virginia. The federal standards, set by the Office of Management and Budget, build each metro from whole counties around an urban area of at least 50,000 people.

In 2023 the metro had 159,002 employer establishments and 2,863,486 employees in the week of March 12. Average pay was $84,848, 1.24 times the US figure and below the District’s $101,634. Of its establishments, 25.7 percent have 10 to 99 employees, against 28.8 percent in DC and 24.6 percent nationally. Our District of Columbia page covers the District alone.

Share of jobs vs US divides the sector’s share of metro employees by its share of US employees. Most government workers fall outside these counts.

Contractors, IT and federal money

The 10,829 computer systems design establishments rank second among 384 metros, and they include the managed IT providers and integrators our MSP marketing page is written for. BLS’s 2025 county data put 69,737 private jobs in that industry in Fairfax County alone, at 7.15 times the national concentration. The metro’s 567 software publishers rank seventh among 255 metros (SaaS marketing).

USAspending shows $139.6 billion in fiscal 2025 federal contract obligations to recipients in the 23 counties and cities, 18.7 percent of the national total. Fairfax County recipients took $84.1 billion of it. The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority counts 10 Fortune 500 headquarters in the county on the 2026 list.

Federal employment is shrinking. BLS’s monthly payroll survey counted 312,600 federal jobs in the metro in September 2026, a preliminary figure that is not seasonally adjusted, against 376,800 in September 2024. Professional, scientific and technical services held 512,000 jobs that September, also preliminary.

Data centers, airports and the show calendar

Loudoun County reports about 233 data center buildings, built or under construction, covering about 56.5 million square feet as of March 1, 2026. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says Reagan National and Dulles handled more than 53.9 million passengers in 2025, with Dulles serving 164 destinations. Sea-Air-Space, the Navy League’s maritime exposition, runs April 4 to 7, 2027, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

Law, homes and trades

The metro’s 3,508 law offices pay $196,548 on average, at 2.07 times the US share of jobs (law firm marketing). Residential remodelers rank sixth among metros with 2,993 establishments (general contractor marketing). The 1,070 electrical contractors employ 24,830 people at 1.19 times the US share (electrician marketing). Landscaping ranks eighth with 1,733 establishments (landscaping marketing).

The local agency base

The metro has 246 advertising agency establishments with 2,877 employees, at 0.70 times the US share of jobs and $111,030 average pay against $106,841 nationally. Its 1,065 marketing consulting establishments rank eleventh among 365 metros and hold 1.28 times the US share. They pay $88,232 on average, against $83,009.

What Growigami runs for a Washington contractor or firm

For each process you choose, AI agents prepare the week’s drafts from what your experts said on calls, and each draft waits for your reviewer. Your CRO builds the process with your capture, technical and sales staff in the first weeks, then checks the results against your CRM. Your team answers questions, signs off and takes the conversations that follow.

  • Search (Search): up to 200 pages a month at the base size, or 500 at the larger size. Each answers one question a buyer or contracting officer searches, aiming for a Google ranking and an AI citation. The monthly check lists which assistant answers cite you.
  • Outbound (Pipeline): 500 target accounts a month, such as primes, integrators or commercial buyers, each researched for a reason to talk now. Every contact gets a message your seller reviews and sends, and replies go to that seller the same day.
  • Events (Events): booth graphics, one-pagers and invites for up to three shows a month. We book meetings at your booth and follow up after each badge scan. On-site help at a show is $2,499 an event plus travel.
  • Paid ads (Paid and creative): two channels with up to $25,000 a month in spend and up to two new landing pages a month. Contractors and practices also get Local Services Ads and Business Profile work.

The optional CRO review costs $1,499 a month if monthly and $2,999 if weekly; every process is built by your CRO regardless.

What a Washington marketer earns, against a retainer

BLS’s May 2025 medians for the metro were $87,160 for a marketing specialist and $181,260 for a marketing manager. The specialist median is $10,930 below the District’s $98,090, and the manager median is $4,090 above the District’s $177,170. The US medians were $78,760 and $166,790, so the metro pays more for both roles.

WebFX’s lowest DC tier comes to $34,800 over a year. A single Growigami process is $1,999 a month, or $3,498 with a monthly CRO review.

When a Washington SEO firm with an office wins

  • Your existing pages need fixing more than you need new ones. WebFX’s tiers list up to 30 to 60 pages optimized at the start, on a six-month commitment.
  • You want meetings across a table. DuPont Creative is on K Street, and Silverback offers in-person meetings from Northern Virginia.
  • You need one fixed project. A fixed project with one of the 27 Clutch firms that start at $1,000 can come in under three months of a process.
  • You only need Maps and a handful of pages for one location. A small local firm, or Thrive’s SEO plans estimated from $500 a month, fits that job better.

Choose Growigami for 200 pages a month drawn from your own experts, with a reviewer on every page and a price posted on our site.

Questions

Questions for any SEO company in Washington DC

How much does an SEO company in Washington DC cost?

WebFX's DC page posts $2,900 to $9,200 a month on a six-month commitment, and Thrive's pricing page estimates small-business SEO from $500 a month. Clutch's DC SEO page shows 27 of 64 firms with a minimum project of $1,000 and up and 21 with $5,000 and up. The Growigami Search process runs $1,999 a month and publishes up to 200 pages.

What does an SEO company do?

It researches the searches your buyers run, then builds, rewrites and links pages so Google ranks them and AI assistants quote them. DuPont Creative's DC page splits the work into technical, on-page and off-site SEO. Growigami's version is a monthly run of 200 new pages written from your experts' answers.

Is SEO dead or evolving in 2026?

Evolving: the answers buyers read now come from Google and from AI assistants that cite pages. WebFX's DC plans list AI search visibility tracking and citation tracking across AI answer engines next to classic ranking reports. Our Search process checks every month which ChatGPT and Perplexity answers cite your firm.

Who are the top SEO companies in Washington DC?

Every ranking reflects whoever wrote it. Clutch's DC page orders 64 firms and marks some as sponsored or featured, and Silverback's list of DC agencies puts Silverback first. Compare firms on what you can check: a posted price, a term and what gets produced each month. WebFX posts both on its DC page, and Thrive on its pricing page.

Is there a Growigami office near DC?

There is none in the District, Maryland or Virginia. Your CRO meets your staff on video, and every draft goes to your named reviewer before it is published. If you want a firm you can visit, DuPont Creative lists 1701 K Street NW and WebFX gives an office at 1300 I St NW.
