The Census counts Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach inside the Miami metro area, so every Miami figure here includes Broward and Palm Beach counties. Growigami keeps no South Florida office or staff, and we name no client here. Your CRO sets things up with your staff over video, and each week’s output goes into your CRM.
County Business Patterns treats the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro as three counties: Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach. By the CBP glossary’s definition, a metro area needs an urbanized area of 50,000 or more people at its core. Neighboring communities join when they are closely tied to that core, economically and socially.
The metro had 222,388 employer establishments in 2023, fourth among 387 US metros and 34.4% of Florida’s total. It had 2,428,299 employees in the week of March 12, only 24.3% of the state’s. That works out to about 11 employees per establishment, against 15.5 for Florida and 16.7 for the US. Average pay was $65,359, above Florida’s $60,013 and below the US average of $68,342.
Miami ranks second or third among US metros by count in nine of the 20 sectors we track. The table lists eight of them, leaving out the broad professional services group. Three more follow: new car dealers for their payrolls, dental offices and manufacturing for its 80,617 jobs. In the last column, 2.28x means the sector’s share of metro jobs is 2.28 times its share of US jobs.
