A marketing agency in California runs a firm’s search, ads, social media and website for a monthly fee. Of the four agency pages on the first results page for “marketing agency california”, one posts a price: Thrive’s Los Angeles packages from $500 a month (read 5 November 2026). Growigami sells that work remotely as a third option, priced per process from $1,999 a month.
Growigami has no California office, staff or clients. Setup happens on video calls with your team, and the weekly work lands in your CRM. A firm that wants an agency it can visit will find several on the same results page with a California address.
In Ahrefs’ US top ten for the keyword, pulled 5 November 2026, Semrush’s agency directory ranks second and lists 120 agencies for California. Thrive’s Los Angeles page ranks third, so a statewide search lands on a city page. Two more of the eight organic results are Los Angeles pages, from Jives Media and Yelp. Cedar Ads ranks fourth and says its California office is at 580 California Street in San Francisco.
On Semrush’s first page of 40 profiles, every agency gives a California city and 13 give more than one location. Seven profiles begin at $5,000 or above, and 8 at $2,500 or more but under $5,000. Another 16 start below $2,500. Nine say “Any”.
Cedar Ads says the markets beyond its San Francisco office are areas it serves remotely. Premier Marketing’s California page lists five cities in its footer: Charlotte, Irving, San Diego, New York and Miami. Clutch and The Manifest also rank, but both showed a bot check to our reader, so we left them out.
None of the five pages gives California’s business data or the cost of a marketing hire in the state.
California had 1,029,689 employer establishments in 2023, counting each location with a paid employee. They make up 12.3 percent of the US total. The state has 2,643 of them per 100,000 residents; the US figure is 2,497.
Establishments here run slightly smaller. In California, 23.0 percent of them employ 10 to 99 people; nationally the share is 24.6 percent. An average California establishment had 15.9 employees on the March 12 count, and the US average was 16.7. Average pay was $87,119, against $68,342 for the US.
The table lists the seven most concentrated of the sectors we track, then professional services and manufacturing, two of the state’s six largest sectors by employment, and the two marketing industries. The last column divides a sector’s share of California jobs by its share of US jobs. A reading of 1.00x matches the national share.
| Sector | Employer establishments | Employees | Average annual pay | Share of jobs vs US |

Of the sectors in the table, software departs furthest from the national pattern. Its 3,890 software publishers employ 300,096 people, 2.53 times the US share of jobs, at an average of $245,608 a year. Our SaaS marketing page covers search and outbound for them. The 20,696 establishments in computer systems design, the Census group that includes managed IT providers, run at 1.24 times (MSP marketing).
Professional practices are dense. California’s 22,821 law offices and 22,757 dental offices are the most of any state, at 1.16 and 1.18 times the US share of jobs (law firm marketing, dental marketing). Its 22,558 real estate offices pay an average of $94,319, against $79,090 nationally (real estate marketing).
Among the trades, residential remodelers lead on concentration, with 16,792 establishments at 1.27 times the US share (general contractor marketing). California’s 9,393 landscaping establishments are the second-highest count among the states (landscaping marketing). Manufacturing employs 1,157,201 people here at an average of $91,763 ($73,202 for the US).
USTR counts 61,340 companies that exported from California locations in 2023. Of those, 57,949, or 95 percent, had fewer than 500 employees. California’s goods exports reached $188.4 billion in 2025, second among the states.
The Census file counts 25 metro areas in California. The eight largest hold 878,215 of the state’s 1,029,689 employer establishments, about 85 percent. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim alone holds 40.0 percent.

Source: U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023, metropolitan area file (average pay is payroll divided by employees, computed by Growigami).
San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara ranks sixth by establishments and first by pay, at $180,141 on average. That is 3.36 times the $53,631 paid in Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario. San Jose’s establishments average 23.6 employees, the largest of the eight. San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont pays the second most, $129,839.
Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario has 4,592 fewer establishments than San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad but 14,417 more employees. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim pays $75,120 on average, below the state’s $87,119.
Goods exports rank the metros another way. USTR’s 2024 figures put Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim first at $58.9 billion, then San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad at $24.9 billion. San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont recorded $23.8 billion and San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara $23.7 billion. Sacramento-Roseville-Folsom recorded $6.7 billion.
The Census counted 2,462 advertising agency establishments and 9,390 marketing consulting establishments in California in 2023, the most of any state in both. Together they employ 74,633 people. California holds 12.3 percent of all US employer establishments. Its share of US advertising agencies is 15.9 percent, and of US marketing consulting establishments 18.0 percent.
Both industries employ a larger share of California workers than of US workers: 1.37 times for advertising agencies and 1.15 for marketing consulting. Advertising agencies pay $117,853 on average, against $106,841 nationally. Marketing consulting pays $96,782, against $83,009.
Self-employed marketers fall outside these figures, because the Census series counts only locations with paid staff.
Thrive’s Los Angeles SEO page lists SEO packages from $500 a month (read 5 November 2026). Our Search process covers 200 pages a month for $1,999, and 500 pages cost $1,499 more. AI agents start each page from answers your staff already gives customers.
Every week, AI agents write drafts for the processes you chose: pages, ads, lead replies and outreach. Your CRO, who designs and proves each process, sets it up with your staff in the first weeks and tests it against your CRM. Sales calls, the jobs themselves and any reply that needs a person stay with your team.
Each process is priced at $1,999 a month at its first size:
The CRO review is optional and extra: $1,499 a month for monthly sessions or $2,999 for weekly ones. Skip it, and your own team sets direction while we keep the processes going.
California’s privacy law matters to anyone setting up forms, tracking pixels or retargeting. The California Privacy Protection Agency adjusted the CCPA’s revenue threshold for a covered business to $26,625,000, effective 1 January 2025. Whether the law applies to your firm, and how, is a question for your own counsel.
Thrive is the only one of the four agency pages we read that shows its own price. Its Los Angeles packages begin at $500 a month on month-to-month terms. Cedar Ads asks visitors to pick a monthly budget band, from $500 to $1,000 up to $5,000 to $10,000. That band is the buyer’s budget, and Cedar’s own price is not on the page.

Nationally, the medians are $78,760 for specialists and $166,790 for managers, so both California figures run higher. A Growigami process starts at $1,999 a month and costs $500 more in its first month while we build it, and your first build is on us this month. Running two processes costs $3,998 a month once the first month is over, with ad spend passed through at cost.
Growigami suits a California owner who wants weekly marketing work with the price posted up front and who is happy to meet a CRO on video.

Questions
Few of them say. Among the four first-page agency pages we read, only Thrive's shows a price: its Los Angeles packages begin at $500 a month and run month to month. Semrush's California directory shows budgets per project. Of the 40 profiles on its first page, 7 begin at $5,000 or above. One Growigami process costs $1,999 a month.
Only when the work needs someone in the room. Search pages, ad campaigns, outreach and replies to new leads work the same from any city. Cedar Ads, which names a San Francisco office, says its other markets are areas it serves remotely. Growigami's team is remote, with no office in the state. Shoots at your sites, event booths and local press favor a nearby agency.
A hire makes sense when one person inside the company is what you need. In California that person costs more than the US median. BLS put the state at $94,700 for a marketing specialist and $193,620 for a manager in May 2025. If several channels need work every week, outsourcing buys more of it. One process costs $1,999, and $3,498 if you add the monthly CRO review.
We will not forecast leads or rankings for a firm we have not worked with. What we do commit to is the start. You see our proposed first process inside a week of CRM access, and that process is usually live about three weeks later. From then on, your CRM shows each week what it produced.
Yes. Any page or ad can wait for your look before it goes live. Outreach is sent by your own seller once they have read it. During setup, your CRO and your team agree who checks what. Ad spend on the Paid process is billed at cost.
It runs the channels a firm's buyers use to find it. Cedar Ads lists SEO, PPC, social media, content, web design, video and reputation management as its services. Growigami sells each channel as its own process, so a California firm can start with the one it lacks. The price of each is $1,999 a month.
No. Growigami has no office or staff in California and names no California clients. Your CRO works with your team on video. If you want an agency you can visit, Thrive prints a Los Angeles street address and Cedar Ads names a San Francisco office.
Give us read access to your CRM. Within a week we show you the first process we would build and what it would produce.
